Beacon Rock State Park: A Great Option Close to Portland

We had a great time staying in this park which overlooks the Columbia River Gorge and is about 40 minutes outside of Portland on the Washington side. The campground is very small and only has 5 RV spots but surprisingly those are all with full hookups!

Kim came to spend the night one night and we had fun hiking up to Hardy & Rodney Falls. The trail was filled with amazing old growth, bird sounds, wildflowers and of course the falls. If you do this hike be sure to go up to see the Pool of the Winds because it's magical looking.

One evening we walked around the State Park during Golden hour.

This is the view at one of the capes on our drive between Beacon Rock & Portland.

We were able to see Kim's new apartment (she's still unpacking/sorting and getting settled in), spend time walking in gorgeous parks, hang out and celebrate her completing a project she's been working on for several months. We also spend time with Kevin & Heidi (my brother and his wife) and tasted yummy German beer and food at Occidental Brewing & Urban German Wursthaus. One day we hike beautiful Forest Park with our nephew Dallin and had beer at Deschutes Brewery (we were having so much fun I forgot to take pictures!) Our last night we headed up 30 floors to the Portland City Grill to catch some gorgeous views looking out over the city (and some scrumptious appetizers).
