Our last few days here I spent time wandering back to some of my favorite places here, sitting in spots visiting with fellow travelers and getting ready to end our amazing three months here in Portugal. We have definitely fallen in love with this country and the people.
One evening I sat with lots of others on the hill at Jardim do Morro which has incredible views looking over the Douro River to Porto. We watched the sun get lower as a local musician played acoustic guitar. I was sitting next to a couple from Brazil that spoke a few words of English and we were somehow able to learn a little about each other (while they kept giving me beers). When the sun dipped below the horizon everyone began clapping and I felt a little emotional being there with so many other people experiencing this beautiful spot and moment.
There's just too many things that we love about this trip to try and list them and I've tried doing it all along with my posts so suffice it to say it was incredible.
We packed, rode the most modern train in Portugal to date (it felt like an airplane) back to Lisbon and wandered the waterfront near our hotel where we watched the sun go down over the bridge that we drove over when we first arrived. Our last meal was at an Italian place where we had yummy pizza (first time trying charcoal floured pizza).
We were a little concerned about the travel home since we kept hearing horror stories about flight cancellations/delays, but we got super lucky and everything went right on schedule as planned. We landed in Phoenix and it of course felt like walking into an oven!!!! Took an Uber to our storage unit and our car actually started right up! After two quick nights we are off on the road again.
Next up UT to visit my family for a couple of days, then through Boise for a few nights and on to Portland.
The adventure continues.
