An incredibly stunning area of the Algarve with the most gorgeous beaches and limestone cliffs.

We decided to hike the Vau to Alvor a Praia da Prainha trail near Portimão. We started off with a coffee and amazing views.

We began the hike during low tide which allowed us to walk quite a ways on the beach as well as explore some of the formations. It was amazing to see the fossils buried in many of rocks.

Notice the rocks packed into the base of the cliffs as well as sections of rock walls to help with erosion.

We then began climbing up to the top of the cliffs where we continued looking out from above and across to see city views. We were surprised how forested parts of this route were which really added to the beauty.

We ended up taking some stairs down to a pretty beach where I put my feet in the water for a bit before we turned around and headed back.

It was really crazy to see how much the water had come in while we were hiking and that many of the areas of the beach, that we had explored, were now inaccessible!
